Reality Radio at its Best!

Eye on Dependency shares real stories of recovery to help young people understand the truth about drug use. We explore how addiction affects lives and how support—from police to counselors—can help rebuild and restore people, families, and communities.

Goal.

To ensure that every citizen of Trinidad & Tobago can recognize the signs and symptoms of addiction and is knowledgeable about the risks associated with the disease
in all its forms.

Objectives.

Eye on Dependency aims to raise awareness about the signs, symptoms, and risks of substance abuse as part of a broader prevention strategy.

We promote health and wellness by sharing vital information on chronic non-communicable diseases and sexually transmitted infections, while advocating for responsive public health policies.

Our mission includes breaking down the stigma and stereotypes often attached to substance abusers, referring individuals in need to drug treatment centres, and showcasing the important work these centres do across Trinidad & Tobago.

We also take a critical look at the criminal justice system, exploring how it addresses issues like drug abuse, trafficking, human trafficking, law enforcement, and corrections.

Drug abuse is a nationwide phenomenon, affecting every stratum of society, though its effects and characteristics may vary.

Over its 23-year history, Eye on Dependency has sought to emphasize the clearly defined link between crime and the abuse & trafficking of drugs and alcohol, and to explore indigenous solutions to the root causes of crime.
